Q: Can I convert my timber designed home to a Light Gauge Steel home?

Yes, all our steel frames are made to standard timber dimensions, and can be designed to achieve the same out come as a timber home construction. Most architects are not familiar with the advantages and benefits of steel construction.

Q: How quick can you have frames delivered to site?

The benefits of roll formers are that we can produce a complete 2 storey house, floor joists and roof trusses within a 3-day period, delivering to site on the 4th day. The stages prior to frame manufacture & delivery are as follow: 1. Request building documentation, architectural CAD file, window & door openings & structural drawings from the customer. 2. Request a company site specific checklist to be filled out and returned 3. Engineering mark up of current building design. 4. Detailing process, create a IFC model to commence structural steel detailing 5. Structural Steel detailing, create IFC model 6. Engineers’ approval on models, layouts and truss engineering reports 7. Internal review & approvals Note: This process takes between 3-5 weeks depending on how fast information can be passed onto the detailers upon request.

Q: What if I want to make changes on site to my existing floor plans ie. Change room dimensions or add a room?

The benefits of LGS is that we can model your home using our state of art software which allows us to add or remove walls to your liking as long as they are non-structural load bearing walls otherwise we will require to engage in our in house Engineers to make these amendments.

Q: What is the difference between blue steel and grey?

Simple answer is NOTHING. One is imported steel and the other is local steel manufactured by Bluescope. Both having to meet AS1397requirements for coating class yield strength. Both offer warranties.

Q: Can I do alterations or additions to a timber home using LGS?

Yes of course. LGS Framing has been used on many occasions on timber homes, and will attach quite easily. In many cases trusses have been replaced with timber to meet builders time lines.

Q: How can I locate my studs after the house is plastered for the purpose of hanging a picture frame or TV?

Simple answer is yes. With a magnet. This method is a far more simple and cheaper alternative than trying to locate timber studs and having to buy expensive gadgets to perform this task.
